It’s safe to say that Bronny James’ Lakers return was far from what we had hoped for.
The son of the great LeBron James was handed 15 minutes against the Utah Jazz by coach JJ Redick who explained he "didn’t play well."
Bronny had been starring in the G League and recently put up his highest score for the South Bay Lakers with 31 points.
However, the 20-year-old seems to be struggling to make the step up to the NBA with Stephen A. Smith suggesting it’s time for LeBron to "stop this."
Bronny was always going to find it tough coming into the NBA under the expectation of the work of arguably the NBA’s GOAT, his father.
LeBron is still breaking records for fun at 40, and the pair’s performances were miles apart against the Jazz.
Bronny went scoreless in his 15 minutes, while LeBron dropped 31 points, eight rebounds and nine assists.
Skip Bayless was left confused by Bronny’s 0-point display calling it "hard to understand."
Stephen A. Smith has now sent a message to LeBron as a ‘father’ to ‘stop this, of course talking about Bronny’s NBA career.
Speaking on NBA’s "First Take," he said: “I’m really trying to be as respectful as I can be towards LeBron James. I am pleading with LeBron James as a father stop this…. stop this.
“We all know that Bronny James is in the NBA because of his dad. The first game of the season, opening night, a father-son duo playing in an NBA game for the first time an absolutely positively wonderful story.
“Then reality sets in, we love what we’re seeing from him in the G League because that’s where you belong as you hone your skills and you get better and legitimately earn [your spot in the NBA].”

With the minor league South Bay Lakers, James has found massive success, averaging 16.3 points, 4.2 assists and 4.2 rebounds, something he is struggling to replicate in the NBA.
While Bronny may be bringing in huge financial bonuses for the Lakers, his basketball ability is not yet at the required level.
He is averaging just 0.3 points, 0.4 rebounds and 0.3 assists in the NBA, something that Stephen A. Smith has highlighted as a huge problem.
Stephen A. continued: “Right now Bronny James is averaging 0.3 points, 0.4 rebounds and 0.3 assists. You know what people are saying, you know what they’re gonna do to this kid.
“In 13 games he has played 44 minutes, he has scored four points, he is shooting 1-16 from the field and 0-7 from three-point range. How are you doing him favors? We know he’s not ready yet.”
Bronny will have to show all of the mental toughness of his dad to rebound from this display, it remains to be seen where his NBA future will take him.
