For Raiders star defensive end Maxx Crosby, the 2024 season was one of utter frustration. Not only did the Raiders come up far short of expectations with their 4-13 record, but Crosby was hit with an ankle injury that forced him to end his season in Week 14.
Not only that, but Crosby watched good friend Davante Adams get traded out of town, and played without another good friend, Josh Jacobs, whom the Raiders let walk in free agency last offseason.
To top it off, coach Antonio Pierce was fired after the season, meaning Crosby will be looking at playing for the fifth coach of what will be his seven-year career in 2025. But, Crosby said he had a chance to meet the new guy — 73-year-old Pete Carroll — at at the coach's introductory news conference this week.
Although NFL legend Bill Belichick was said to be very unhappy with the hire, Crosby was impressed.
“Just a ton of great energy in the room,” Crosby said on this week's episode of “The Rush With Maxx Crosby.”
“It was finally good to talk to Pete. You know, I got to talk to him before he got hired, you know, he was actually here for an interview. I got to run into him and Mark [Davis] and got to chop it up with them. And then today, I got to spend a little more time with him. Not a ton, but we got to talk a little bit more and chop it up.
“Also, John Spytek, the new GM as well, he texted me right away when he got hired. We’ve had some cool conversations. Today, I got to meet their families and just hear kind of what the vision is and what the plan is moving forward. I got to hear a little bit. I’m looking forward to talking more.”
There has been speculation that Crosby would seek a trade from the Raiders after another dysfunctional year, but instead, he seemed more excited about the future than antsy about leaving after the Carroll presser.
"It was cool, I am really looking forward to it, just hearing what his vision is," Crosby said.
