While everything had been going well for the Montreal Canadiens in the past few weeks, some recent news has really hurt team morale.
This has been very evident in news conferences, particularly those of head coach Martin St. Louis.
While he had been all smiles and everything seemed great for the past few weeks, he seemed much more on edge during Wednesday's meeting with the media, and it's understandable.
The team has suffered a few losses in a short period, and more importantly, a major blow hit the Montreal Canadiens with the serious injury suffered by defenseman Kaiden Guhle.
That hurts.
All this to say that St. Louis actually lost patience with a reporter Wednesday toward the end of his media availability.
He was asked the same question, or almost the same, twice about Patrik Laine, and let's just say he didn't appreciate it much.
The reporter wanted to know how Laine could be better at five-on-five, given that his stats in that area are not particularly strong.
"You're asking me the same question again!(arguments)
"Well, you're asking me the same question!
"I already answered [your question].. Well, yeah!
"That's what I'm going to do," he said after the reporter pushed the issue further.
Let's just say it created a tense atmosphere in the press room.
"[Martin St. Louis] responded in a slightly curt manner because he seemed tired of answering the same question.
"The coach said he had already answered the question and that his answer wasn't going to change. He then left his press conference."
