Victor Wembanyama is done being Mr. Nice Guy.
The San Antonio Spurs star exhibited a lot of emotion in his team's 128-116 loss to the Clippers on Wednesday night. Besides several on-court outbursts over disputed calls, Wemby was visibly frustrated with Clippers center Ivica Zubac for being overly physical with him for most of the game.
Wemby's frustrations came to a head midway through the third quarter when he was sent flying to the court after being hip-checked by Zubac. In the previous play, Wemby blocked Zubac's attempted dunk but the latter thought he was fouled. This led to Zubac flailing his arms in frustration before running back on defense and shoving Wemby.
The Frenchman gathered himself and charged at Zubac but was held back by his teammates and coaches. It was the most emotion the 21-year-old had displayed in his young NBA career.

Zubac's non-basketball play was not reviewed or afforded a technical foul, angering Wembanyama and Spurs interim coach Mitch Johnson.
After the game, Wemby was asked if his charge at Zubac was an "enough is enough moment" caused by poor officiating.
"Frustration...it was a bunch of things," Wemby responded, along with a "No" when he asked if he gets officiated fairly.
The 7-footer then delved deeper into his frustration.
"It's a hard thing to fight because it feels unfair sometimes," he said. "Of course, we talk about it with the staff and there is some stuff I have to do to help myself. First of all, being strong and not bailing out shots. Talking to the refs, of course, explaining myself. But for me, it doesn't feel like it's something I should influence. I'm a basketball player, I'm here to play, and yeah, this is why it's frustrating. It's not my job to do politics."
Wemby revealed that Zubac apologized to him and that his frustrations weren't directed at the Clippers center, but at the officials.
Ivica Zubac said he apologized to Victor Wembanyama after the game:

“I reacted a little. I thought I got fouled. I was mad at the refs and I was late… I saw Wemby crashing and I knew I had to box him out. Bumped a little harder. I let emotions take over a little bit. But I… pic.twitter.com/d73HbE1r4V
It's fair to suggest that Zubac won his head-to-head battle with Wemby, finishing with 21 points and 22 rebounds to the latter's 23 and 12. Furthermore, Zubac's ability to control the paint ensured the Clippers out-rebounded the Spurs 57-30, including 17-7 on the offensive glass, which proved a decisive advantage for Lue's visiting squad.
