Stephen Curry reportedly 'has reservations' about Jimmy Butler's potential fit with Warriors

On Wednesday, The Athletic reported that the Warriors were initially reluctant to engage the Heat on a Jimmy Butler trade due to "price tag and fit," though "there’s been a noticeable increase in intrigue" in the All-Star from the team lately.

On Thursday, Yahoo Sports' Kevin O'Connor echoed the same initial concerns from the Warriors camp. 

"My league sources confirm these hesitations, revealing Curry himself has reservations about Butler's fit in the Warriors' locker room — a sentiment shared by head coach Steve Kerr," O'Connor wrote. "Their worries stem from Butler's tumultuous history with previous teams."

O'Connor then recapped Butler's history with his previous teams, noting how he clashed with multiple teammates in Chicago, had issues with head coach Brett Brown's offensive system in Philadelphia and is currently embroiled in a public spat with the Heat's front office.

The report added that the Warriors re-entered the Butler trade talks only after the Heat dropped their asking price. However, there isn't any indication yet that Golden State is keen to pull the trigger on acquiring Butler, who turns 36 in September. 

It was reported earlier that the Warriors view Zach LaVine, 29, as a "safer option" than Butler due to their age difference and playing styles. LaVine has turned himself into a coveted player on the market, with the Bucks and Nuggets also targeting him ahead of the Feb. 6 trade deadline.

Be it for Butler, LaVine or even Nikola Vucevic, the Warriors are widely expected to make a trade or two within the next week. According to ESPN's Brian Windhorst, the Warriors are eying "a significant move" to give Curry another shot at an NBA championship.
