Watch: Alex Ovechkin extends goal streak to four games vs. Flyers

Alexander Ovechkin is on one of his trademark heaters. The Washington Capitals captain scored his fourth goal in as many games with a first-period tally to tie things up 1-1 with the Philadelphia Flyers.

The 39-year-old snagged a wrist-shot from the stick of Noah Cates and ripped it past goaltender Ivan Fedotov from close range.

Fedotov became the 180th different goalie Ovechkin has scored on in his career, extending his already-impressive NHL record of most all-time.

The goal was Ovechkin's 26th of the season, increasing his career total to 879. He's now 16 away from passing Hockey Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky's all-time record of 894.

This is the third time this year that Ovechkin has scored at least four goals in as many games. He scored in five straight contests from Oct. 29-Nov. 6 (six goals), his longest streak of the 2024-25 campaign thus far.

Ovechkin now moves into a five-way tie for eighth on the league leaderboard in goals scored this season. His current 0.68 goals-per-game pace still has him on schedule to break Gretzky's record before the conclusion of the regular season calendar.
