Former Los Angeles Rams All-Pro running back Todd Gurley II is now eligible for the Hall of Fame, according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.
Gurley hasn't played in the league since the 2020 season. He's officially eligible as the league rule is a player must be five seasons removed from his last NFL game to earn Hall of Fame consideration.
Gurley is part of a loaded group of '26 contenders. Larry Fitzgerald Jr. and Drew Brees are two potential headliners for the next class. Phillip Rivers and Jason Witten are two more who could join next year's class. Frank Gore also joins Gurley as one of the possible RB candidates.
Gurley established himself as a fan favorite among Rams fans. He crossed the 1,100-yard mark in his first season of 2015. But he broke out in 2017 under then-new head coach Sean McVay -- compiling 1,305 yards and scoring 13 touchdowns.
Gurley later became one of the league's elite backs in 2018. He scored 17 touchdowns while hitting 1,251 yards. And he put that production together for the 2018 NFC champions.
He went on to play two more seasons in the league. Gurley rushed for 857 yards and crossed the end zone 12 times in his final Rams campaign of 2019. He ended his career with the Atlanta Falcons in 2020, racking up 678 yards and scored nine times.
The native of Baltimore and past Georgia Bulldogs star announced in October 2022 that he was done playing football.
