The Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs will battle it out in New Orleans on Sunday for the right to lift the coveted Lombardi Trophy, and Super Bowl LIX is going to be historic no matter which team wins.
Many have heard the constant mention of the possibility for a never-before-seen three-peat if the Chiefs are victorious. But with an Eagles win, an equally impressive streak will come to an end.
Over the past 34 years, 17 quarterbacks have played in and lost their first Super Bowl appearance. None made it back to the big game since Buffalo Bills legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer Jim Kelly in 1990-91.
Eagles passer Jalen Hurts lost Super Bowl LVII following the 2022 season, but now he's the first since Kelly to make it back.
Will Jalen Hurts bring a Super Bowl back to Philly?

But that's not where the historic achievement could end.
If Hurts and Philadelphia were to defeat Kansas City on Sunday, preventing a Super Bowl three-peat, he would be the first QB in 52 years to win in his second appearance after losing the first.
Miami Dolphins legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer Bob Griese lost Super Bowl VI in 1971-72 and then avenged it the very next season in Super Bowl VII.
However, in order to reach illustrious status, Hurts will have to break yet another historic Super Bowl trend.
No quarterback facing off in a Super Bowl against the same team and opposing passer that beat them has ever won the rematch (0-3).
Kansas City has history on its side in that manner but something will have to give on Sunday, making Super Bowl LIX one of the most historically significant of the modern era.
