No. 12 St. John's capitalizes on turnovers to extend winning streak

Rick Pitino and his St. John's Red Storm team just keep on rolling, picking up their 10th straight win on Friday, knocking off No. 19 UConn, 68-62.

The Red Storm may have had the best week of the season so far by any team in the country, knocking off No. 11 Marquette and No. 19 UConn.

St. John's improved to 21-3 overall and 12-1 in the Big East. It is their best start in the Big East since the 1984-85 season when they reached the Final Four.

RJ Luis Jr. continued his season-long excellence, finishing with 21 points and seven rebounds.

Kadary Richmond scored 12 points, all of those coming in the second half when his team needed it the most.

The turnover differential had a massive impact on the game. The Huskies had 22 turnovers, while the Red Storm had just seven.

St. Johns was able to capitalize on that, scoring 18 points off the UConn miscues.

Liam McNeeley returned to action for the first time since Jan. 1 and finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds off the bench. He led the Huskies in scoring.

Tarris Reed Jr. also collected a double-double off the bench, finishing with 12 points and 15 rebounds.

St. Johns will play both UConn and Marquette again this season, two massive games for NCAA Tournament implications.

With little to no blemishes the rest of the way, the Red Storm could be looking at a possible No. 2 seed come March.
