Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel and former Houston Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik worked together in the past. Now McDaniel is hoping that a reunion in Miami could be just what the Dolphins offense needs.
Slowik had been the offensive coordinator of the Houston Texans for the past two seasons. Despite the fact that Houston had won the AFC South and made the AFC divisional round two postseasons in a row, head coach DeMeco Ryans fired Slowik in January.
NFL insider Tom Pelissero is now reporting that the Dolphins have hired Slowik as their senior passing game coordinator. This is despite the fact that Darrel Bevell has been Miami's quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator since 2022. According to ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques, Bevell's role won't change, even with the addition of Slowik.

McDaniel and Slowik had coached together as assistants in Washington and San Francisco. McDaniel is bringing in the 37-year-old to help jumpstart a passing offense that averaged only 218.9 yards per game in 2024 despite having star wideouts like Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle and Pro Bowl tight end Jonnu Smith.
Slowik's brother, Ryan, is also on Miami's coaching staff as the Dolphins defensive backs coach and pass game specialist.
