Watch: Knicks, Hawks battle in highest-scoring game of season

Defense was optional Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden as the Knicks held on in overtime and knocked off the Hawks, 149-148 in an absolute thriller.

The 297 combined points were the most in the NBA this season.

The Knicks led by six points with just 10 seconds remaining in regulation before allowing the Hawks to come back and tie the game and force overtime.

There were points aplenty, as 12 of the 18 players to enter the game finished in double digits.

Karl-Anthony Towns led all scorers with 44 and Jalen Brunson added 36 points and the game-winner with 11.1 seconds remaining in overtime.

The rest of the Knicks in double figures were Precious Achiuwa (26 points, season high), Mikal Bridges (11 points), Josh Hart (18 points) and Cameron Payne (10 points).

Trae Young shined like he normally does against New York, finishing with 38 points and 19 assists, both of which were his second most in a game this season.

Georges Niang (21 points) and Caris LeVert (20 points) both added 20+ points off the bench.

Dyson Daniels (23 points), Onyeka Okongwu (21 points) and Zaccharie Risacher (16 points) were all also in double figures.

The two teams will play each other one more time this season, and NBA fans will be hoping they can put on the same kind of show that they did on Wednesday.
