The Tennessee Titans need a quarterback, but a new mock draft has them adding a two-way star instead.
In his latest mock draft, ESPN's Field Yates predicted the Titans would select Colorado CB/WR Travis Hunter with the No. 1 overall pick.
"While there is little precedent for a prospect playing both sides of the ball in the NFL, Hunter has a rare skill set," wrote Yates. "The Titans need help at both WR and CB, and Hunter — whom I'm ranking at corner right now — could boost either spot."
In 13 games in the 2024 season, Hunter (6-foot-1, 185 pounds) had 15 touchdown catches and four interceptions, winning the Heisman Trophy.
Hunter is talented but wouldn't fill Tennessee's hole at the most important position. In 2024, Titans second-year QB Will Levis went 2-10 in 12 starts, posting a below-average 27.9 QBR.
The Titans could sign a free-agent QB, perhaps Sam Darnold or Justin Fields. That path, however, is unlikely to solve the team's quarterback issue.
The 2025 class includes intriguing options in Miami QB Cam Ward and Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders. Ward tossed 39 TD passes in 13 starts, while Sanders threw 37 in 13 games.
However, Sanders and Ward may not be transcendent talents. An AFC general manager recently told The Athletic's Dianna Russini they would've ranked behind Denver Broncos rookie QB Bo Nix in last year's draft, and neither "screams franchise QB to [him]." (No. 12 overall pick Nix was the last first-round QB in 2024.)
The 2026 NFL Draft may have a better QB class. It could feature Penn State QB Drew Allar, Texas QB Arch Manning and Tennessee QB Nico Iamaleava.
QB isn't the Titans only problem after they went 3-14 in 2024. If Tennessee doesn't want to reach for a quarterback in the draft, taking Hunter wouldn't be a bad idea.
