Young goaltender suddenly leaves Canadiens organization, heading overseas

The Montreal Canadiens have an excellent goaltending depth chart. We obviously know Samuel Montembeault and Jakub Dobes, who are currently with the big club, but there are also several other goaltenders having outstanding seasons with the Habs' affiliated teams.

We can think of Cayden Primeau and Connor Hughes with the Laval Rocket, as well as Zachary Emond and Luke Cavallin with the Trois-Rivières Lions.

This depth chart has taken a slight hit, as young Emond has just left the organization.

This somewhat affects the organizational depth of the Montreal Canadiens in net.

Zachary Emond leaves the Montreal Canadiens organization and is suspended by the Trois-Rivières Lions

Here is the official confirmation.

"The Trois-Rivières Lions have suspended goaltender Zachary Emond in order to retain his rights."

Zachary Emond, 24 years old and a native of St-Cyprien (Quebec), is a 6-foot-3, 176-pound goaltender.

He was a sixth-round pick of the San Jose Sharks in 2018 and has put up exceptional numbers this season with the Lions (a record of 10-3-0, a goals-against average of 2.21 and a save percentage of .927).
