A chain reaction on the backstretch started the crash, which involved Michael McDowell, Nathan Byrd, Toni Breidinger, Rajah Caruth, Matt Crafton, Jack Wood, Ty Majeski and Ben Rhodes.
Breidinger and Rhodes were able to continue, while McDowell, Caruth, Wood, Crafton and Byrd were knocked out of the race.
While McDowell took a hard lick into the outside wall, Caruth got the worst of the crash. His No. 71 Silverado slid down the backstretch at breakneck speed, eventually hitting the inside wall.
The crash was the fourth of the night, following incidents involving Kaden Honeycutt, Breidinger and Clay Greenfield.
A big crash is common in the closing laps at Daytona, where the draft brings a whole pack of trucks together at the most pressure-packed time of the race.
