Nikola Jokic left in disbelief over Victor Wembanyama’s pregame routine

Nikola Jokic and Victor Wembanyama could not be further apart as human beings. That was reinforced by one of their interactions during NBA All-Star Weekend.

Joker and Wemby (a great name for a buddy cop comedy coming out this fall, by the way) were having a locker room chat ahead of Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game at Chase Center in San Francisco, Calif. The two were both selected by Charles Barkley’s to be on his “Global Stars” squad in the revamped All-Star format.

Something in the San Antonio Spurs youngster’s locker caught the Denver Nuggets star’s eye.

Jokic: “You really brought a book?

Wemby: Yeah! I read before every game.

Jokic then buried his face in his palms like a disappointed father.

Clearly, Jokic is not a man who enjoys curling up with a good book when the right mood strikes him. Jokic would much rather watch fantastic beasts outrun each other on the racetrack rather than read about them in some novel.

Wembanyama, on the other hand, has admittedly lost track of how many books he’s read throughout his 21 years of life. The 7’3″ Spurs big man oftentimes looks like a mythical creature on the court, which makes it fitting that fantasy is his favorite genre of literature.
