The invites are out, and it's time to get pumped as the NFL offseason focus will shift to the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, which is slated for Feb. 24 through March 3 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
With many NFL mock drafts having several edge-rushers going in the first round, today we'll focus on a guy on a bit of a mercurial ride after a strong Senior Bowl week showing while going all sit-down-son on some really talented offensive lineman.
Marshall DE Mike Green, whose name might carry a bit more gravitas if it had a Power 5 moniker next to it, is still one of the best edge-rushers available in this year's NFL Draft. His stock is likely to rise above what seems to be an end of the first round selection consensus with a good Combine performance.
The 6-foot-4 Green was once a wide receiver and began his college career as a linebacker while barely north of two-hundred pounds in total body weight. After a break from the game, he showed up at the Thundering Herd complex at Marshall on a mission.
Green led all FBS defenders this past season with 17 sacks, which is a Sun Belt Conference record, and also helped earn him Sun Belt Player of the Year and first-team All-American honors.
The former star at Lafayette High School in Williamsburg, Virginia, displayed an explosive first step that may be the most lethal aspect of his potential as an NFL EDGE blaster.
He lacks some size and length compared to specimens such as Georgia's Mykel Williams, but Green turned down the volume on that noise by showing up at the Senior Bowl at 250 pounds and instantly making his presence known.

Make no mistake: Green plays with an uber-aggressive motor, and his onslaught of ferocity is impressive, but he'll need a more refined approach that doesn't involve trying to bull-rush a 330-pound lineman on every rep. He's going to need another 20-25 pounds as well.
If Green can develop a patented spin-move to go with the natural speed and volatile-tempered strength, this guy could be a top edge-rusher when it comes to bending his way to a sack or tackle for a loss.
His results were so striking at the Senior Bowl reps, he decided to skip the game and head to Indy for the Combine. He's already run a 4.57 forty, and it'll be interesting to see what head-turning feats he has in store.
If Green can channel some spin, duck, dip, and go technique from HOFer and former Super Bowl champion Dwight Freeney, this guy is a Von Miller-like threat waiting to happen.
Look for Green and all the EDGE participants to strut their stuff on Thursday, Feb. 27 at 3 p.m.
