Kansas HC Bill Self sounds fed up after blowout loss to BYU

Kansas head coach Bill Self is sick of it.

His team is reeling after a 91-57 loss at BYU on Tuesday, which was tied for the worst margin of defeat ever since Self has been with the Jayhawks. Kansas has now lost two of its last four games, and Self is over it.

“I’m talked out,” Self said after the game, according to Thomas Goldkamp of On3.

Self may not want to talk anymore about Kansas' struggles as of late, but it's deeper than that. After the loss, he feels the best thing the team can do is to get away from each other and try to hit the reset button.

“We need to regroup,” Self said. “Get away from each other for a day and go home. And hopefully be able to… a lot of times with teams there needs to be something happen to pull everybody together that is us against the outside. And we’re going to have an opportunity to do that for sure.”

The good news for Kansas is that the Jayhawks do have a bit of a break coming up. Their next game is on Saturday, Feb. 22, so at the very least, they do have about three days to try to regroup and settle back in.

With the loss to BYU, Kansas fell to 17-9 on the season and 8-7 in Big 12 play. This is atypical for the Jayhawks, but it remains to be seen if Self can will this team back to playing contending basketball over the next few weeks.
