Notre Dame head coach Micah Shrewsberry is not happy, and that's an understatement.
The 11-15 Fighting Irish have lost two straight and in total they've lost five of their last six games. After their loss to Louisville in South Bend — a 75-60 stinker — Shrewsberry got so upset by the amount of Cardinals fans in attendance that he ended up hitting the microphone on the way out of the news conference.

"I watched more Louisville fans in here than Notre Dame fans. And that's EMBARRASSING... And yes, I got us in this predicament. But don't come back when we're winning. Everybody that gave up on me, write this date down" pic.twitter.com/DgWvZbNE8l
That was an intense moment, but things didn't get any less intense after Notre Dame dropped a game to SMU on Wednesday night, 97-63. Shrewsberry went as far as to apologize to all the former Notre Dame players who have put on the uniform in the past.
"All these former guys that reached out to me in the last couple days, that’s a slap in their face. That ain’t Notre Dame basketball. What we’re doing now, what we have now, it all comes from what they did. And for us to not compete is a slap in their face," he told the media (h/t On3).
Notre Dame was routed by SMU, and the numbers tell a story of a team that showed no heart. The Fighting Irish were out-rebounded, 43-20, and at one point, the Mustangs had a lead as big as 34 points.
“I apologize to all those guys that put in blood, sweat and tears for this program. The fans that are still out there fighting for us, man, I apologize to them,” Shrewsberry said. “Because that there, that’s not Notre Dame basketball. That’s why I said, ‘This is rock bottom,’ because it ain’t gonna be like this anymore. I need five guys and all my timeouts. That’s it.”
Shrewsberry will try to get the Fighting Irish back on track against Pitt on Saturday.
