Singer Chantal Kreviazuk pulled a controversial move while singing the Canadian national anthem prior to her country’s game against the United States at the 4 Nations Face-Off on Thursday night at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.
Kreviazuk changed the lyrics of the song “O Canada” in response to some political hostility between the USA and Canada.
Instead of singing “in all of us command,” Kreviazuk decided to sing “that only us command.”
“True patriot love, that only us command”

Kreviazuk had written the lyric change on her hand as a reminder. She confirmed that with a post on her Instagram Story.

Kreviazuk made the change in response to talk from current US president Donald Trump about making Canada the 51st state.
Kreviazuk’s performance of the song was booed by the fans as expected. The Star Spangled Banner was booed when the U.S. played its round robin games at the Bell Centre in Montreal.
