Kansas City Royals first baseman Jac Caglianone's power is as advertised.
In the bottom of the eighth inning of K.C.'s spring training game against the Chicago White Sox on Sunday, Caglianone smashed a 435-foot home run off pitcher Trey McGough, cutting the Royals' deficit to 3-2. The exit velocity was 115.4 mph.
Swing, power, & poise as advertised.

Jac Caglianone’s first Cactus League hit is a missile of a solo homer to the CF berm.

The Royals came back and beat the White Sox 4-3. The moonshot was Caglianone's only appearance at the plate.
The Royals took Caglianone out of Florida with the sixth overall pick of the 2024 MLB Draft. MLB.com ranks him No. 22 on its prospects list, and the 22-year-old slugger is expected to make his major league debut in 2026.
While he still has room for improvement, MLB.com's David Adler pointed out he posted eye-popping numbers in the Arizona Fall League in 2024.
"The 22-year-old had a max exit velocity of 117.3 mph in the Fall League, on a line-drive single that was the second-hardest hit ball of the AFL season," wrote Adler. "Only nine big leaguers had a 117-plus mph base hit in 2024."
Perhaps Caglianone has a bright future with the Royals.
