Three offensive linemen the Raiders could target in free agency

When free agency begins on March 12, the Las Vegas Raiders would be smart to address its offensive line.

Who will be the starting quarterback when free agency begins is unknown. There have been talks that it could be Matthew Stafford, Sam Darnold or Aaron Rodgers to name a few. Stafford and Rodgers are aging quarterbacks who need protection. This is why going into the 2025 NFL free agency, the Raiders need to address the offensive line.

In a piece that ran in The Athletic on Monday, Tashan Reed said the offensive is the biggest need. He notes that the Raiders have a "quality left tackle in Kolton Miller" and "promising young linemen" in C/G Jackson Powers-Johnson and RT DJ Glaze.

That leaves the Raiders needing to draft another guard to help the offensive line. Here are three offensive linemen the Raiders could target:

Dalton Risner l Minnesota Vikings

He started the season on injured reserve and returned in November and ended up starting eight games out of 10. Even before joining the Vikings, he was reliable for the Broncos when he started all 62 games. While he didn't play that many games, he didn't allow a sack in 2024.

Risner would provide immediate help on the line and stability if the Raiders cannot sign Trey Smith away from the Chiefs.

Brandon Scherff l Jacksonville Jaguars

Another reliable guard who has played all the games when active. In fact, he started 140 games since entering the NFL in 2015 with Washington. According to Pro Football Reference, he only had one penalty called against him in 17 games played this past season. If the Raiders were to sign that would be a win in itself. Very disciplined player who could help the Raiders a lot on the offensive line and give Miller help.

There are chances for the Raiders to keep improving the line with the money they have available, which leads to the third player they could target.

Trey Smith l Kansas City Chiefs

If the Raiders were able to sign Smith, that would send seismic shocks in the AFC West after he spent his first four seasons with the Chiefs. He has been reliable for Kansas City and started 67 games. He provided enough protection for Patrick Mahomes by not allowing a sack.

If the Raiders were to sign Smith, that would send the team headed in the right direction on offense. The Raiders have more than enough money to make the signing happen.
