Who's trending up, down two races into NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season

Following Saturday's Fr8 208 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, the first two races of the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season are in the books. Here are the drivers trending up and down after the first two events of the year.

Trending up: Gio Ruggiero, No. 17 Toyota Tundra, TRICON Garage

Ruggiero has been the most impressive rookie so far in 2025, finishing runner-up at Daytona and a solid 11th at Atlanta. He's stayed calm in pressure-packed situations through his first two Truck Series starts, an invaluable trait in a series where chaos often reigns. Las Vegas on March 14 will be his first test on a non-drafting track and the first true test of his speed.

Trending up: Chandler Smith, No. 38 Ford F-150, Front Row Motorsports

After dropping down to the Truck Series from the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2025, Smith has come out of the gates red-hot. He's led more laps (36) than any other Truck Series regular through the first two weeks of the season, and has brought home finishes of sixth and fifth, respectively. If Smith continues to run inside the top-five and lead laps, he'll be considered a championship favorite in no time.

Trending up: Grant Enfinger, No. 9 Chevrolet Silverado, CR7 Motorsports

Enfinger has picked up where he left off after making the Championship 4 in 2024, as he currently leads the points two weeks into the season. If the No. 9 is quick at Las Vegas on March 14, the rest of the field should think twice before taking the underdog CR7 Motorsports team lightly for the second year in a row.

Trending down: Matt Crafton, No. 88 Ford F-150, ThorSport Racing

Crafton is in his 25th full-time season of Truck Series competition in 2025, and it seems like the three-time Truck Series champion may be over the hill. Crafton hasn't won a race since 2020 and currently sits 20th in the standings after two poor results to start the season. Crafton and the No. 88 team will need to find speed quickly to avoid becoming an afterthought in the playoff race.

Trending down: Toni Breidinger, No. 5 Toyota Tundra, TRICON Garage

When compared to a fellow TRICON Garage rookie in Ruggiero — who is seven years Breidinger's junior — Breidinger's 2025 season couldn't be off to a worse start. Finishes of 28th at Daytona and 24th at Atlanta haven't started Breidinger's rookie season off on the right foot. With one of her teammates having won at Daytona and another currently sitting sixth in points, Breidinger will have to learn on the fly in order to climb her way out of the basement in the points standings, where she currently sits 28th.

Trending down: Rajah Caruth, No. 71 Chevrolet Silverado, Spire Motorsports

Just below Breidinger in the points standings is second-year driver Rajah Caruth, who sits 30th after finishes of 30th at Daytona and 29th at Atlanta. The good news for Caruth? He's the defending winner at the next stop on the schedule, as he picked up the first and so far only win of his Truck Series career at Las Vegas in March of 2024.
