Titans GM gives hint about Will Levis' future amid QB rumors

Members of the NFL community have suggested throughout the winter that the Tennessee Titans could replace quarterback Will Levis with a veteran signed in March and a signal-caller acquired via the first overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Speaking with reporters at the NFL combine on Tuesday, new Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi hinted that the club isn't ready to give up on Levis yet.

"We have to solidify that position," Borgonzi said about Tennessee's quarterback situation, Kevin Patra of NFL.com shared. "And we have Will on the roster right now, and he's going to compete with whoever we bring in. We have one quarterback on the roster, so we're bringing people in. And Will will compete with them as well."

Borgonzi accepted the Titans' job in January and wasn't with the club when it made Levis a 2023 second-round draft pick and benched the 25-year-old in December. Last month, Levis revealed he would spend some offseason refining his mechanics with former NFL quarterback and current trainer/coach Jordan Palmer.

Some previously named current New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers as a possible bridge option for Tennessee before he announced last week that he wants to be part of "a good team." Meanwhile, the Titans could take either Miami's Cam Ward or Colorado's Shedeur Sanders with the No. 1 pick of this year's draft.

For a mock draft published on Tuesday, The Athletic's David Ubben predicted that Tennessee would take Ward because "he’s a better processor and a much better athlete with a much stronger arm" of the to-be rookies.

"At the end of the day, we have to make the best decision for the Titans," Borgonzi said about Tennessee spending or trading the draft's first pick before the night of April 24 arrives. "And if we deem taking a quarterback is the most important thing right now, then we'll do that. But we have to go through this process here. So [the combine] is like one touchpoint in the process."

Levis will probably not be Tennessee's long-term answer at the position, but he will have opportunities this summer to prove his worth to the club.
