The 2025 NFL Draft is just around the corner and fans are clamoring to know who will be picked No. 1 overall.
The Tennessee Titans are currently on the clock and will have their choice of every prospect coming out of college.
Will they select a quarterback and replace the failed Will Levis experiment? Will they take a generational talent like Penn State DE Abdul Carter or Colorado DB Travis Hunter? Or will they trade back for a haul of draft capital and perhaps established players?
The No. 1 overall pick is considered extremely valuable and typically could net a franchise-altering player, but when it comes to winning a Super Bowl, is the first pick all it's hyped up to be?
Since 1999, just one player that was selected first overall has won the Super Bowl with the team that drafted him.
Offensive tackle Eric Fisher was picked first by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2013 and as fans well know, the team has won three Super Bowls since then.
Four other first overall picks in that span have played in the Super Bowl with their original squads: QBs Alex Smith (as a backup), Cam Newton, Jared Goff and Joe Burrow.
Four No. 1 picks selected in the 1990s won a Super Bowl with the teams that drafted them: QBs Peyton Manning, Drew Bledsoe (as a backup), OT Orlando Pace and DT Russell Maryland.
The Titans have a difficult decision to make. The hope will, of course, be to draft a player that could turn the team's fortunes around and allow it to build towards a championship.
However, the data points towards trading back as being the most logical and beneficial option.
What general manager Mike Borgonzi eventually chooses to do will be the focus of fans and pundits alike for the next month and a half.
