It seems likely that Chicago White sox outfielder Andrew Benintendi will start the MLB season on the injured list.
Benintendi was hit by an 87 mph fastball on Thursday while facing Cleveland Guardians pitcher Logan Allen in the first inning of a spring training game.
The ball hit Benintendi on the right hand, and the team has announced that the outfielder will miss four to six weeks with a broken hand.

The four-week timetable would put Benintendi back in action on March 27 — the same day as the White Sox's season opener. They play the Los Angeles Angels at home to kick off the 2025 season.
If it's six weeks, that would put Benintendi back in action around April 10, which means he'd likely miss the first four series of the season.
Of course, this is all assuming he can quickly get back into game shape, but he is a 10-year professional ballplayer.
Benintendi hit .229 with a .396 SLG and a .685 OPS last season for the White Sox. It was the worst full-season batting average of his career, but last season was bad for a lot of people in Chicago.
