Watch: Kyrie Irving sinks free throws after suffering knee injury

Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving proved his toughness after suffering an apparent knee injury on Monday night. Irving was not about to let the insult of missing out on his earned free throws be added to his injury.

Early in what would become a 122-98 blow out loss to the Sacramento Kings for Dallas as the Mavericks' season continues to fade away since trading Luka Doncic last month, Irving endured what looked to be a scary injury while driving to the hoop.

Irving's left knee buckled awkwardly as he was attempting a layup. He then fell on the court in noticeable pain. Aware something wasn't right, Irving immediately requested a Mavericks' trainer to assist him.

But even though Irving needed medical attention, he also knew he had free throws to take care of before going into the locker room.

So to Irving's credit, he hobbled over to the charity stripe, granted with some help and finished the play.

And unable to put any pressure on his leg, Irving went 2-of-2 as he was able to sink both shots with tears streaming down his face.

Appreciating what they were witnessing, the fans in attendance at the American Airlines Center gave the nine-time All-Star a standing ovation for his efforts.

"The crowd recognizes what's happening here," was said on the broadcast to honor Irving.
