LeBron James and Luka Doncic set multiple records in win over Pelicans

The Los Angeles Lakers extended their winning streak to seven games with a dominant 136-115 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night. The win marks their longest streak in four years and their 17th victory in 20 games, propelling them to second place in the Western Conference with a 39-21 record.

While the victory reinforced the Lakers’ resurgence, it was also a historic night for LeBron James and Luka Doncic, who both etched their names into the record books with milestone performances. James finished with 34 points, with his first shot of the game pushing him past the 50,000 combined regular-season and playoff points—making him the only player in NBA history to reach this milestone.

The 40-year-old added eight rebounds, six assists, one steal and two blocks while shooting 5-of-9 from three-point range, in yet another remarkable performance.

Doncic delivered another stellar outing, recording 30 points, eight rebounds and 15 assists, narrowly missing a triple-double. He was 6-of-11 from beyond the arc and became just the fourth player in franchise history to register at least 30 points and 15 assists in a single game, joining Magic Johnson, Jerry West and LeBron James. However, the 26-year-old became the first player in Lakers history to achieve this feat while also making five or more three-pointers.

The records didn’t stop there. James and Doncic became the first duo in Lakers history to each record 30-plus points while making at least five three-pointers in the same game. Their growing chemistry continues to elevate the Lakers into legitimate title contention as the season progresses.

Jaxson Hayes had his best performance of the season, contributing 19 points and 10 rebounds, helping the Lakers secure their second straight win despite missing injured starters Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura.

For the Pelicans, Zion Williamson was a standout performer, leading all scorers with 37 points, while Trey Murphy III added 19 points. New Orleans finished 2-2 on their road trip, showing promise despite the defeat.
