Sometimes hockey goalies don't need their eyes to make a save.
Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson made an insane snag against the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday night, leaving many to declare it the best save of the 2024-25 season.
Early in the first period, Gibson made a routine kick-out save with his left leg pad but the puck popped into the air and seemed to hang for an eternity.
He then reached blindly behind himself to snatch the puck out of mid-air before it could ricochet off his pads and into the net.

Gibson didn't hold on entirely, however. The puck slipped out as he went to the ice but his teammate, Leo Carlsson, slid in with his skate to help pin it against Gibson's armpit.
The Ducks No. 1 goaltender has been viewed as a potential trade candidate as the March 7 deadline approaches.
Wednesday's impressive effort (on top of his 2.80 GAA and .911 save percentage) could be what some teams needed to see to put his stock over the edge for a late-season move.
