The NFL free-agency period officially begins Wednesday (March 12) at 4 p.m. ET. However, the negotiation window for teams and pending free agents opens Monday at noon ET
With the frenzy about to commence, here are the top dozen free agents and their ideal landing spots.
WR Davante Adams: Los Angeles Chargers (2024 team: Jets)
The Adams-Aaron Rodgers connection has run its course. It's time for the future Hall of Famer to move on and catch passes from a young gunslinger for a change. QB Justin Herbert, who turns 27 on March 10, and the Chargers seem like the perfect fit.
Per DraftKings, however, Adams — who had 1,063 yards receiving last season — is favored to land with the Packers.
Edge Joey Bosa: Detroit Lions (2024 team: Chargers)

Bosa is a Defensive Rookie of the Year winner, a five-time Pro Bowler and a four-time double-digit sack player, but he has played in only four playoff games in his nine-year career. The 29-year-old deserves to play on a Super Bowl contender for the first time, and his personality would mesh well with Lions HC Dan Campbell's.
Per ESPN's Kris Rhim, "Bosa's talent has never been questioned, and his last game as a Charger was the perfect reflection of that. Bosa had a team-high six pressures and a sack in the Chargers' playoff loss to the Houston Texans."
WR Chris Godwin: | Pittsburgh Steelers (2024 team: Buccaneers)
The Steelers have a dynamic deep threat on the outside in George Pickens, but they need a trusty possession receiver who can make tough catches on third downs. Pittsburgh is a great fit for the longtime Bucs star from a schematic perspective.
Tampa Bay, however, wants to keep him. "Hopefully, we can come to an agreement with him because Chris means the world to this organization," Tampa Bay GM Jason Licht said at the NFL Scouting Combine.
DT Milton Williams: New England Patriots (2024 team: Eagles)
Williams is in a great position to cash in this offseason after a dominant performance in the Super Bowl, and no team has more cash to spend than the Patriots ($125M in cap space, per Spotrac). Being able to develop under new HC Mike Vrabel isn't a bad sell, either.
Per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, "[Linebacker Zack] Baun was the Eagles' free-agent priority. Meanwhile, the feeling in league circles is that Milton Williams and [edge-rusher] Josh Sweat will both hit free agency."
Edge Khalil Mack: Buffalo Bills (2024 team: Chargers)
Mack (107.5 career sacks) is in a similar boat as Bosa in that he's never played for a true Super Bowl contender. Why not chase a ring where he played his college ball at the University at Buffalo?
His current team, however, may also be a suitor. Per ESPN's Rhim, "The Chargers have made it no secret that their top priority this offseason is to re-sign Mack."
"Pay the man, Joe. Pay the man. Let's get him back," Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh said while sitting next to Los Angeles GM Joe Hortiz on "The Pat McAfee Show" at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley: New England Patriots (2024 team: Ravens)
Returning to the Ravens might be the best option for Stanley from a competitive standpoint, but Baltimore can't match what New England can offer him. Stanley could cash in big time and fill a huge need with the Patriots.
Wrote ESPN's Mike Reiss about the Patriots, "Offensive line play wasn't good enough last year. Defensive line play wasn't good enough last year. And they're bullish on fixing it, because they believe that's where games are won."
QB Sam Darnold: Seattle Seahawks (2024 team: Vikings)
The #Seahawks are now expected to explore veteran QB options, with Sam Darnold viewed by league sources as a leading contender. The dominoes begin. https://t.co/Oxib0Q9fsb

Many Super Bowl contenders might be scared off by Darnold's poor performance down the stretch last season, but the Seahawks would gladly open up the checkbook after trading away incumbent starter Geno Smith.
Darnold performs best when expectations are low, so Seattle would be a great fit.
Safety Jevon Holland: Washington Commanders (2024 team: Dolphins)
Holland has All-Pro upside at safety, and what better place to chase that level than with HC Dan Quinn in Washington? Quinn was the architect behind the "Legion of Boom" in Seattle, and he would have a lot of fun developing Holland into a star.
For CBS Sports, former agent Joel Corry projected a four-year deal for $80 million for Holland.
CB Byron Murphy Jr.: Minnesota Vikings (2024 team: Vikings)
Murphy is coming off his best season as a pro (six interceptions) and made the Pro Bowl for the first time. This is the perfect defensive scheme for him, and the Vikings will have money to spend if they let Darnold walk.
Edge Josh Sweat: Arizona Cardinals (2024 team: Eagles)
We see reunions in free agency all the time, so the Cardinals should likely be the favorites to land Sweat. The defensive end played for Jonathan Gannon, the ex-DC in Philadelphia, for two years, and the Cardinals desperately need a premier pass-rusher.
Former agent Corry projects a contract for Sweat of $95M over four years.
CB D.J. Reed: Green Bay Packers (2024 team: Jets)
Reed was overshadowed by Sauce Gardner during his three years in New York, but he's ready to prove he's one of the top cover corners in the NFL. Green Bay would be the perfect place to do just that, especially if the Packers part ways with often-injured CB Jaire Alexander.
QB Aaron Rodgers: Pittsburgh Steelers (2024 team: Jets)
If Rodgers still wants to play competitive football, Pittsburgh might be his best option. It's not easy to tame Rodgers and the distractions he brings to a team, but if any organization can do it, it's HC Mike Tomlin's Steelers.
Rodgers apparently is an option for the lowly Giants, ESPN has reported.
"But he's not the only veteran quarterback the Giants are considering. Sam Darnold and Russell Wilson are believed to be near the top of the Giants' list, should they make it to free agency, according to multiple sources who spoke with the team at the NFL Scouting Combine," Jordan Raanan of ESPN wrote.
