Former Florida State and Florida recruit Jaelen Waters commits to Miami

Jaelen Waters has been committed to both Florida and Florida State, and now he's committed to a third Florida school.

This time it's Miami, but there's something about Mario Cristobal's program that seems to make sense for the four-star cornerback from Seffner, Fla.

He recently took an unofficial visit to Coral Gables to take in a Hurricanes practice, and that experience was enough to get him to commit.

"I thought practice was good. I got to see [secondary coach] Will Harris in action. I felt really good about. I got to see both of them [cornerback coach Zac Etheridge] in action, so I feel really good about how it's looking in that uniform," Waters told InsideTheU.

It's worth noting that Harris was previously the secondary coach at Florida, so his relationship with Waters played a huge role in this commitment. He seems to know it, too, because he posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, soon after the commitment.

If that's not a subtle shot at the Gators, nothing else could be.

Waters will go down as a big commitment for Cristobal's Hurricanes. Of course, they'll have to keep his commitment — because his history suggests it's not final until it's final — but for now, this is a big recruiting win for Miami.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Waters is the No. 15 cornerback in the 2026 class. He goes down as Miami's fifth 2026 commitment.
