In what was a highly anticipated top-20 showdown to close out the Big Ten regular season, No. 8 Michigan State cruised to a 79-62 rivalry win over No. 17 Michigan on Sunday.
The Spartans finished the season with a record of 26-5 and will be playing in the NCAA Tournament for the 27th consecutive season.

Michigan State took a 5-3 with over 17 minutes remaining in the first half, and it never trailed again, leading by as much as 25 in the second half.
Three-point shooting was huge for the Spartans, as they shot 37.5% from three, well above their team average of 29.9% on the year.

Tre Holloman led the Spartans in scoring with 20 points off the bench, a season-high figure for the junior guard.
Freshman guard Jase Richardson (18 points) and senior guard Jaden Akins (11 points) were also in double figures. Akins knocked down three of his first four three-point attempts before going quiet for the rest of the game.
The trio of Holloman, Richardson and Akins combined for eight of Michigan State's nine three-pointers.

For Michigan, senior center Vladislav Goldin and junior center Danny Wolf were the main two scoring options.
Goldin scored 29 and Wolf scored 18, combining for 47 of the Wolverines' 62 points, a recipe that won't get them very far in the NCAA Tournament.
Three-point shooting was also costly, as Michigan went just 3-for-24 (12.5%) from beyond the arc.

Both teams will receive a double bye in the conference tournament, and it would not be a surprise to see the two match up for a third time this season in the Big Ten championship game.
