Wizards rookie Alex Sarr has breakout performance in win vs. Nuggets

Washington Wizards rookie forward Alex Sarr had a breakout performance in a surprising 126-123 win against the Denver Nuggets on the road.

Sarr tallied 34 points (career-high), six rebounds, five assists on 12-of-28 from the field and 5-of-9 from beyond the arc. The 2024 No. 2 pick had 24 points at halftime in arguably the best game of his young career.

The Wizards are brimming with young talent such as Sarr, Kyshawn George and Bub Carrington. Furthermore, Washington is coached by Brian Keefe, who is in his first official year as a head coach in the NBA.

Washington is in a rebuild and is focused on building its young core that features Sarr at the forefront. The Wizards are 15-51 on the season and are one of the worst teams in the association, so the win against the Nuggets (43-25) comes as a shock.

Nikola Jokic contributed 40 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists on 16-of-30 from the field and 1-of-8 from the three point line.

Jokic is still firmly in the MVP race along with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, but this head-scratching loss to the Wizards definitely won't help his case.
