Phil Mickelson has never been afraid to ruffle a view feathers with his opinions and the six-time major champion kept that theme going with his latest take on who the world's best golfer is.
Replying to a post on X about LIV's Joaquín Niemann being a "top 5 player in the world right now," Mickelson made his thoughts clear on the Chilean-born golf star.
"Joaquín Niemann has got to be a top 5 player in the world right now," Torque GC argued. "Currently sits at the top of the leaderboard in Singapore for his [2nd] win of the season and 4th in [the LIV Golf] league."
"Top 5? Try #1," Mickelson claimed.

Try #1
Fans descended upon Lefty's controversial opinion pretty quickly.
"We know he's full of [expletive] but not even Phil can believe this," a user said.
"Lmao Phil go home you're drunk," another replied.
"Apparently Phil thinks Joaquin Niemann is the #1 player in the world. So the #1 player in golf doesn't have a T10 in a major?" a fan laughed.
"The [expletive] riding from Phil this weeks been crazy….Niemann best major finish is T16," another user pointed out.
"But if a tree falls in a forest, and no one is there to see it win a golf tournament, did it really happen?" another person asked.
"This is almost as bad your political takes you degenerate."
"#1 in LIV is like being the best college player bc of the weak competition ... He'd be the 18th best on tour," another fan claimed.
"I'll bet my house on scheffler," a follower stated.
There's no doubt that Niemann is a talented golfer on the rise.
But as another user shared, the 26-year-old has been severely outplayed by Schefter in all 16 majors they've appeared in together — with Scottie coming out on top in terms of finishes, overall score and missed cuts.
Mickelson's response: "All true. Let's keep these tweets and see what happens throughout this year."
