Corey Heim had Friday's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway won — until he didn't.
The 22-year-old from Marietta, Georgia, had the fastest truck in south Florida on Friday evening, as he led 78 laps and won Stages 1 and 2.
However, mechanical issues began to plague Heim's No. 11 Toyota Tundra late in the race. His truck shut off on lap 114, taking Heim from the lead to third.

After Heim got back to the lead, the issue flared up again with four laps to go, once again dropping him back to third. He was unable to recover, with Kyle Larson taking the win.

Three laps to go at @HomesteadMiami!
"About 15, 20 (laps) to go, everything seemed fine," Heim told Fox Sports. "The engine would hard-cut on me and the dash would go black. I'd have to reach my right hand over and completely recycle the power to get any sort of life back in the motor. Probably the best truck I've ever had, it stings pretty bad."
Heim's opportunity to win for the third time in the first four races of 2025 may have fallen by the wayside, but he's still off to an incredible start. Aside from a blip on the radar at Atlanta, Heim has finished top-three in the other three races, and he leads the Truck Series points standings.
Friday's race was the definition of a heartbreaking defeat, but Heim is still the overwhelming championship favorite.
