ATP Miami Day 5 Predictions Including Casper Ruud vs Alejandro Tabilo

Eight third-round matches will be played on day five at the ATP Miami Open. With the elimination of Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev, the draw has opened up with several players looking to take advantage. As always, we at LWOT will offer predictions for every match on the slate, including Novak Djokovic vs Camilo Ugo Carabelli? But who will book their spot in the fourth round in Miami?

ATP Miami Day 5 Predictions

Gael Monfils vs Jaume Munar

Head-to-head: Monfils 1-0 Munar

Gael Monfils continues to produce some of the best tennis of his career at the age of 38 as he defeated the dangerous, Jiri Lehecka in a three-set thriller. The Frenchman started the match brilliantly and rushed on to a 6-1 opening set lead but Lehecka bounced back and started playing much better. The third set was extremely close but Monfils stayed calm and got it done in the tiebreak. Jaume Munar, on the other hand, got one of the biggest wins of his career, defeating Daniil Medvedev in straight sets. This was Munar’s third top-10 win and first in a Masters event. This match will be a slugfest because both players enjoy playing rallies, but Monfils’ advantage on serve could make the difference.

Tommy Paul vs Francisco Cerundolo

Head-to-head: Cerundolo 4-2 Paul

Tommy Paul faced an in-form Alexander Bublik in the second round and did well to win the match in three sets. It was a big test for the American and he will feel prepared going into the match against Francisco Cerundolo, who put on a clinical performance against Alexandre Muller in the second round. Cerundolo loves playing in Miami and has an impressive record here. He also has a winning record against Paul, beating him four times in six matches. However, Paul won their only encounter on hard court and will look to do the same. These two always play close matches and I expect nothing less.

Prediction: Paul in 3

Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Sebastian Korda

Head-to-head: Tsitsipas 1-0 Korda

Two months ago Stefanos Tsitsipas might have lost his second-round match against Chun-Hsin Tseng but his newfound confidence and form helped him get over the line. He will hope to improve his level against Sebastian Korda, who put an end to his three-match losing streak against Eliott Spizzirri. Korda has struggled big time this season and will need to play at his best to have any chance of beating Tsitsipas. Korda has the talent and game to trouble the Greek, but given his current form, I’m going with Tsitsipas.

Casper Ruud vs Alejandro Tabilo

Head-to-head: Ruud 2-0 Tabilo

Casper Ruud is quietly having a good season – notwithstanding his early exit in Idian Wells – and beating Miomir Kecmanovic in a close contest in the second round will surely have added to his confidence. After losing the first set, Ruud started going for his shots more and hit a lot of forehand winners. When Ruud is healthy and his forehand is firing, he can display a great level. Alejandro Tabilo survived a mental and physical battle against the tricky, Corentin Moutet in the second round. This was just his second tour-level win of the season. Tabilo is starting to find his form but it is hard to have much faith in his chances against Ruud, who has never lost a set against the Chilean.

Prediction: Ruud in 3
