Watch: Wild pitch vs. Marlins ends in disaster for Pirates

It's safe to say the Pittsburgh Pirates will want to forget about their four-game series against the Miami Marlins.

In the final game of the series in Miami on Sunday, the game was tied 2-2 in the bottom of the ninth inning, and Miami center fielder Derek Hill was on third.

Pirates relief pitcher David Bednar threw a 92 mph splitter into the dirt. Pittsburgh catcher Endy Rodriguez tried to stop the ball, but it bounced off his knee toward the Pirates dugout. Hill then scored, securing a 3-2 win for the Marlins.

It was the third straight walk-off for the Marlins, who became the first team since the 2003 Tampa Bay Rays to notch walk-offs for their first three victories of a season.

In the first game of the series on Thursday, Marlins left fielder Kyle Stowers hit an RBI single, sealing a 5-4 win.

The series' third game on Saturday went to extra innings. During the bottom of the 12th inning, Marlins right fielder Dane Myers had an RBI single, securing a 5-4 win for Miami.

The Pirates are now 1-3, while the Marlins are 3-1. On Monday, Pittsburgh will open a three-game series against the Rays (2-1) on the road.

With 158 regular-season games remaining, the Pirates still have plenty of time to turn things around. However, they'd better stop blowing it in close games or it could be a long season.
