When Mets first baseman Pete Alonso hit his first home run of the 2025 season on Monday, he did so in style.
The four-time All-Star hit a grand slam in the top of the fifth inning on a 3-2 pitch against the Marlins, blasting a 93 mph sinker 400 yards off starting pitcher Cal Quantrill.

According to Stathead research, it was Alonso's fourth grand slam and first since May 19, 2023.
Alonso entered New York's series against Miami coming off a quiet start to the season at Houston, going 1-of-9 in the opening three-game set.
Since debuting on March 28, 2019, Alonso has been one of the National League's best power hitters. His 227 home runs (including Monday's) from the start of the 2019 season are the most in the NL during that span and only trail Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge's 236.
Last season, the two-time Home Run Derby champion hit 34 home runs, giving him five seasons with at least 30 home runs, the most in Mets franchise history. (h/t Stathead)
Based on his track record, the Mets should expect many more long balls from Alonso as the season progresses. But none might be as grand as his first.
