Watch: Alex Ovechkin scores goal No. 891 against Bruins, four from record

Four score(s) and eight games to play in the regular season for Alexander Ovechkin as he chases down Hockey Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky for the most goals in NHL history (894).

The Washington Capitals captain notched career goal No. 891 on the power play during the first period against the Boston Bruins on Tuesday.

Ovechkin buried a juicy rebound from a shot into the crease past Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman, leaving him now just four tallies from passing Gretzky for the record.

The goal extended Washington's first period lead to 2-0. It was also Ovechkin's 454th career road goal, which is an NHL record.

Of his 38 goals this season, 20 have been scored away from Capital One Arena. The tally also marked just his 10th power-play goal this campaign.

Ovechkin's season total to date is now the third most by a player aged 39 or older in NHL history. Only Gordie Howe has more (44 goals in 1968-69 and 39 goals in 1967-68).

He's now on pace to tie Gretzky on April 10 against the Carolina Hurricanes and pass him on April 13 against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
