Bulls' Josh Giddey reaches Michael Jordan's level in one specific way

Move over Michael Jordan, make a place for Josh Giddey? Well, the Chicago Bulls guard can now say he's an equal to Jordan in one specific way.

Josh Giddey is playing like Michael Jordan right now

While leading Chicago to a 113-111 win over the Philadelphia 76ers, Giddey accomplished something in a Bulls uniform previously unique to only Jordan. He became only the second player in franchise history to record back-to-back triple-doubles.

On Tuesday night, Giddey scored 29 points, pulled down 15 rebounds and had 12 assists as the Bulls are sitting at the top of the Eastern Conference at 6-1.

Ironically enough, Giddey's first triple-double from his historic two in a row came in Chicago's first loss of the season. He registered 23 points with 12 boards and 12 helpers in 38 minutes, but the Bulls' season opening win steak was snapped at five games when they fell to the New York Knicks, 128-116.

Josh Giddey has been helping Bulls fans remember the glory days

Prior to the loss to New York, Giddey and the Bulls reached another level the franchise hasn't experienced since the Jordan-led championship teams. The last time Chicago started a season 5-0 was the 1996-97 season.

Giddey, who entered the season with a career scoring average of just 14.2 points per game, is on pace to blow his normal production out of the water. He owned a 22.2 mark through six games before falling one point shy of his second 30-point night.

A former first round pick of the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2021, Giddey has been blossoming into a star in the early goings of the 2025-26 season, and Giddey's elevated play has helped make the Bulls one of the league's surprising stories so far.
