Rafael Devers has had a nightmare start to the 2025 season, and one of the greatest hitters in MLB history is willing to help the Boston Red Sox slugger through it.
Going into Wednesday action, Devers didn't have a hit through five games. That would be bad enough, but he has also struck out 15 times in 19 at-bats and has barely been able to make contact. However, on Wednesday evening, he finally got his first hit of the season, though it doesn't cancel out the misery.
With everyone searching for answers as to why Devers has suddenly gone from Boston's best hitter to their worst, Manny Ramirez says he is all ears if Devers is looking for advice.
"I'm willing to help him. My doors are open, I can give him good advice. Whatever he needs, I'm here," Ramirez told MLB reporter Hector Gomez on Wednesday. "If he wants to talk to me, I'm here to help him with my experience, give him good advice, and talk to him about what I went through. Remember, I played RF in Cleveland, and when I arrived in Boston, they put me in left field. At first, I didn't like the decision, but later I realized it was the best thing for me."

Devers was moved from third base to designated hitter this season after the Red Sox signed Alex Bregman, who won a Gold Glove last year. Throughout the entire offseason, Devers made it clear that his preference was to continue playing third base. He eventually softened his stance and said he was willing to do whatever the team asked of him.
It is unclear if Devers' inability to put the bat on the ball is related to him being moved to DH, but he has been offered plenty of support. David Ortiz, who became a full-time DH at around the same age as Devers, was spotted working with the 28-year-old throughout spring training.
Ramirez is a career .312 hitter and 12-time All-Star. He helped the Red Sox win two World Series. If Devers cannot find a way to crawl out of his slump, he should probably take Manny up on the offer.
