Steph Curry joins Michael Jordan, LeBron James in exclusive scoring club

Steph Curry continues to redefine what’s possible for aging NBA stars.

The 37-year-old got the better of longtime rival LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night, scoring 37 points to lead the Golden State Warriors to a 123-116 victory in a high-stakes Western Conference clash.

Curry shot 10-of-21 from the field, including four three-pointers, and knocked down 13-of-14 attempts from the free-throw line. He added six assists and three rebounds in another vintage performance. The result tightened an already crowded playoff race, with just 2.5 games separating six teams between third and eighth in the Western standings.

The win marked Golden State’s fourth in a row, improving its record to 45-31. The Warriors now sit just one game behind the fourth-place Lakers and a half-game clear of the Minnesota Timberwolves in seventh— the edge needed to stay out of the play-in tournament.

Curry’s latest performance came on the heels of a 52-point explosion against Memphis earlier in the week, marking his second consecutive 35+ point game.

With the performance, Curry joined an exclusive club with only two other all-time greats — Michael Jordan and James — as the only players in NBA history to score 89 points over a two-game span after turning 37. According to StatMamba, he also became the oldest point guard in league history to record consecutive 35-point games.

The outburst came just days after Curry passed Jerry West to move into 25th place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list, further cementing his status among the game’s elite. Despite an up-and-down season, the two-time MVP is averaging nearly 25 points per game and remains the heartbeat of Golden State’s playoff push.

Curry wasn’t alone in toppling the Lakers. Guard Brandin Podziemski delivered 28 points on eight three-pointers.

For Los Angeles, James posted 33 points, while Austin Reaves added 31, including a personal-best nine threes.

But on a night with stars on both sides, it was Curry who stole the show. His shot-making, composure and leadership led the Warriors to a crucial win in their late-season surge, which has gathered pace since the acquisition of Jimmy Butler at the trade deadline.
