Bryce Harper offers harsh take on Dodgers' spending spree

The Los Angeles Dodgers have heard a lot of grumbling from the rest of Major League Baseball as they continue to throw piles of money at free agents, but you will not hear any complaints about their aggressive spending from Bryce Harper.

Prior to the Philadelphia Phillies' game against the Dodgers on Friday, Harper was asked if he is concerned about what L.A. is "doing to the sport." The eight-time All-Star had a harsh message for those who complain about the Dodgers using their financial resources to improve.

"I don't know if people will like this, but I feel like only losers complain about what they're doing," Harper said bluntly. "I think they're a great team and a great organization. That's why guys want to go there and play. L.A. is a great city to play in, obviously. They're the Mecca of kind of the world of everything, from food, to nightlife, to sports, from the Dodgers to the Lakers, anybody.

"They're gonna continue to get guys. They're gonna continue to pull guys from this sport, if that's bullpen, starting pitching, international players, anything like that. They're doing what the Dodgers do."

Harper has never been afraid to speak his mind, and that response was no different. The Phillies certainly are not a small-market team, so Harper probably would not mind if they took a few pointers from the Dodgers when it came to spending to improve their roster.

Teams are often content to stick with what they have or slash payroll after winning the World Series. The Dodgers went in the opposite direction by adding Blake Snell, Roki Sasaki and others. They started 8-0 this season, so you can't argue with the results.

Harper cares about winning, and the Dodgers have positioned themselves to do plenty of that by writing massive checks.
