Most had a feeling it was coming soon, and today, Falcons legend and future Hall of Famer Julio Jones announced his retirement with a video, shouting out Atlanta in the process on 404 day.

Jones will retire a seven-time Pro-Bowler and two-time All-Pro, all of which came while he was with the Falcons. He also owns the record for the most games with 250 yards and was the fastest receiver in NFL history to 13,000 yards.

One can only wonder what kind of records Julio Jones would hold today had he been able to stay healthy. He was a workhorse for the Falcons, constantly playing injured and still putting up absurd stat lines. But it all came to an abrupt end following the 2020 season when Shannon Sharpe called him on live television, leading to one of the most infamous moments in Undisputed history, with Julio Jones saying, “I’m out.”

Soon after, Jones was traded to the Titans in exchange for a second-round pick. Falcons fans were heartbroken, but the star wide receiver was never the same, spending just a season in Tennessee before playing a season each with the Bucs and Eagles. Jones hoped to play in 2024, but nothing came to fruition, speculating many to believe his retirement would come this offseason.

Despite the way things ended, Julio Jones will go down as the most talented player in Falcons franchise history. He will soon be inducted into the Falcons Ring of Honor, and not long after that, he’ll be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame for the rest of time.

Congrats, Julio Jones, on one of the best careers of all time!
