On Sunday, the UConn Huskies women's basketball program won its history-making 12th national title with an 82-59 dismantling of the reigning champion South Carolina Gamecocks.
That title-winning performance from the Huskies — one that surpassed the UCLA men (11) for the most national titles in men's and women's college basketball history — gave star Paige Bueckers her first national title and added more hardware to a stacked 2020 recruiting class.
According to Front Office Sports, four of the top five recruits from the 2020 recruiting class (Bueckers, Angel Reese, Cameron Brink, Kamilla Cardoso) have won national titles. The only player not on that list is former Iowa standout and two-time runner-up Caitlin Clark.

Among her numerous accolades, Clark won the Wooden award in back-to-back seasons as the most outstanding player in women's college basketball. She was also a two-time AP Player of the Year, two-time Naismith Player of the Year and passed LSU and NBA legend Pete Maravich to become the NCAA's all-time Division I scoring leader (men or women) in 2024.
Her tremendous success and accomplishments were on full display when Iowa retired her No. 22 jersey on Feb. 2.
Now a member of the Indiana Fever of the WNBA, Clark, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 draft, enters her second season with the franchise. In her rookie season, she averaged 19.2 PPG, 5.7 RPG and 8.4 APG.
The strength of the 2020 recruiting class was obvious in last year's WNBA Draft. Behind Clark, Brink, who won a national title with Stanford in 2021, was selected by the Los Angeles Sparks with the second overall pick.
Cardoso, winner of two national titles with South Carolina in 2022 and 2024, was drafted third overall by the Chicago Sky. Reese, who was selected seventh overall by the Sky, got the better of Clark's Hawkeyes in the 2023 title game.
After battling through numerous injuries, notably a torn left ACL that kept her sidelined the entire 2022-23 season, Bueckers claimed that elusive title on Sunday and is poised to be the No. 1 overall pick on April 14.
That is as stacked of a recruiting class as you will ever see. Clark may have been the only one of the five to fall short of a title, but it was not for lack of effort or historic accomplishments along the way.
