Would NFC team be the right destination for Alabama QB Jalen Milroe?

Alabama's Jalen Milroe is considered one of the more enticing quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft.

He could have a high ceiling, but the quarterback could flop if he lands with the wrong team. Would the New York Giants be the right destination for the 22-year-old?

In his latest mock draft, ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. has the Giants taking Milroe with pick No. 34 in the second round.

"There is some love for Milroe in NFL circles right now, and he could fit well in New York," wrote Kiper. "He'd have the chance to learn behind Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, developing his pre-snap reads and improving his short-to-intermediate accuracy."

While Milroe may not have to play immediately in New York, the Giants must realize that refining his game is a massive project.

"Overall, Milroe does things you can't teach, but his deficiencies are hard to improve on," wrote The Athletic's Ted Nguyen in a story published Tuesday.

Milroe (6-foot-2, 217 pounds) rushed for 726 yards and 20 touchdowns in 13 games in 2024. SEC Network reported he ran a 4.4-second 40-yard dash at his pro day on March 19 (h/t Chase Goodbread of The Tuscaloosa News).

However, he's an erratic passer. Milroe tossed a career-high 11 interceptions and 16 touchdown passes in 2024.

Giants head coach Brian Daboll has proved he can turn a raw prospect into a premier passer. He was crucial in the development of Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen when he was his offensive coordinator from 2018-21.

"In terms of my path and my career getting better, he was probably the most influential one," Allen said of Daboll in October 2023, per ESPN's Alaina Getzenberg. "He's a guy that I would talk to each and every day."

Asking Daboll to do the same with Milroe may be a demanding task. Taking that risk could still be worthwhile for the Giants. New York needs a franchise QB after it went 3-14 in 2024.
