Could Giants still trade with Titans for No. 1 pick?

As recently as Monday, it seemed like the New York Giants had closed the door on moving up from the third overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft to the No. 1 spot. Numerous reports have said the Tennessee Titans are ready to make Miami's Cam Ward, the consensus top quarterback in this year's class, the draft's first selection.

However, ESPN's Turron Davenport suggested Tuesday that the Titans are still open for business if the Giants or a different team wants to make a "'Godfather' offer" for the right to grab Ward.

"The Titans have made it clear it will take a significant offer to move off the top pick," Davenport explained. "...The talks have intensified, according to a team source. [Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi] was spotted openly meeting with New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen in the courtyard at the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida, where the league meetings were held last week. As the talks have intensified, so has the idea that Ward is a franchise quarterback. That drives up the value of the first pick."

Specifically, the Titans may want at least three first-round draft picks "or something of that value" in return for the Ward selection.

While The Athletic's Bruce Feldman  reported in a mock draft posted on April 2 that he has "heard since bowl season from folks inside the Miami program that the New York Giants love Ward," one unnamed team executive told The Athletic's Mike Sando that it feels as if Giants ownership isn't keen on trading up for a quarterback who doesn't have a "true first-round grade."

Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated shared on Monday that the Titans are merely "comfortable" staying at No. 1 to grab Ward, which could lead one to believe those running the club aren't all that enamored with the prospect. According to NFL insider Connor Hughes of SNY, that's not the case.

"It’s pretty crazy how this evolved over the last few weeks," Hughes said while predicting on Tuesday that the Titans will make Ward the draft's top pick. "A trade from No. 3 to No. 1 for the Giants seemed a foregone conclusion at the NFL Combine. That was until the Titans fell in love with Ward and now want him for themselves."

Hughes' update indicates Tennessee has an unrealistic price attached to the No. 1 pick because the club would happily take Ward if the draft got underway as soon as Tuesday night.
