Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor crushed his first home run of the 2025 season on Tuesday afternoon against the Marlins, sending pitcher Connor Gillispie's cutter to the upper deck at Citi Field and reduce an early 2-0 deficit.
Per Stathead data, it was Lindor's 21st lead-off home run in his 11-year MLB career (since 2015) and third with the Mets. The four-time All-Star had two last year, with his most recent before Tuesday coming on Aug. 17, 2024, also against the Marlins.
Lindor blasted Gillispie's 87 mph pitch on a 3-1 count 391 feet to right field. According to Baseball Savant, the home run had an exit velocity of 107 mph, making it Lindor's hardest hit ball through 10 games this season.

With the home run, Lindor, last year's NL MVP runner-up, extended his hitting streak to seven games. He began the season 0-for-11 during New York's opening series against the Astros but has eight hits in his last 19 at-bats (.421 batting average) as the Mets have won five in a row.
The Mets are expected to contend with the Phillies for the NL East crown, and it will take a strong season from Lindor at the top of the order for them to live up to their lofty expectations. Over the last week, he's delivered.
