Entering play on Tuesday night, Edmundo Sosa of the Philadelphia Phillies had started 272 games over parts of seven seasons in the Major Leagues. He had never started one of those games in the outfield.
That changed when he was put into the starting lineup as a left fielder against the Atlanta Braves. He wasted no time in making a highlight reel play in his new position.
In the bottom of the first inning he took away what looked to be a home run from Atlanta's Marcell Ozuna, bringing it back from over the wall.

Sosa had made some very brief appearances in the outfield as a substitute throughout his career, accounting for just six innings in his career. He made three putouts in those appearances. None of them were as impressive as what he did on Tuesday night against Atlanta.
There is something to be said for having versatility. Sosa had already shown he could play second base, shortstop and third base on a regular basis. He made a pretty good first impression here in the outfield.
