The Miami Marlins played their 12th game of the season on Wednesday, but Dane Myers treated it like there was a World Series ring on the line.
The Marlins took a 5-0 lead into the bottom of the ninth inning in their game against the New York Mets at Citi Field. Lake Bachar got Francisco Lindor to line out to right field and then struck out Juan Soto on three pitches. That brought Pete Alonso to the plate with two outs.
Alonso blasted a deep fly ball to center field that looked like it had a chance to put the Mets on the board. Instead, Myers went into a full sprint and made an incredible catch before slamming face-first into the outfield wall.

Myers preserved the shutout for the Marlins by putting his body on the line. Fortunately, he sat up under his own power and looked like he was smiling.
After appearing in just 66 total games over his first two MLB seasons, Myers has played in 11 of Miami's 12 games this year. He's batting .333 and has looked good at the plate, but that catch could wind up being his best highlight of the year. There is certainly no shame in that.
