Jason Kidd has bizarre 'Babe Ruth' comment regarding Luka Doncic trade

Jason Kidd delivered a painful “Babe Ruth” comment regarding the Dallas Mavericks’ infamous trade of Luka Doncic.

The Dallas Mavericks traded Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers on Feb. 2 in what was a truly stunning move. The trade was so shocking that most people thought the reporter who broke the news had been hacked. Alas, he wasn’t, and the trade went through.

On Wednesday, Doncic returned to face the Mavericks in Dallas as a member of the Lakers. Prior to the game, Kidd spoke with the media and said it was “cool” some people were comparing the trade to the Babe Ruth trade.

The baffling thing is Kidd made that comment without seeming to understand the context. Of course, the Red Sox’s trade of Ruth couldn’t have gone worse. It helped the Yankees develop a dynasty, while the Red Sox were saddled with the “Curse of the Bambino” and went 86 years before winning another World Series after making the ill-fated trade in 1919.

Yeah, that’s not exactly something you should be proud of, Kidd.

Dallas entered Wednesday’s game 10th in the West at 38-41, while the Lakers entered third at 48-31. Mavericks fans are hoping they won’t end up going 86 years between championships like the Red Sox did.
